Welcome to March! The third month of 2019 promises to be anything but mellow, despite all of the planets in Pisces, the water sign of the empath, whose depth and compassion knows no limits – or boundaries. With Mercury going retrograde on March 5, a new moon in Pisces on the 6th, and the sun shining on our deepest feelings, our emotions will be taking control. The best option isn’t to fight the current, rather to float along and observe your reactions, revelations, and re-awakenings. We all know retrogrades have a bad reputation for messing with technology, travel plans, and miscommunications – which is true to an extent, but the higher octave of any planetary retrograde is centered around revisiting the past, and re-assessing how we can learn and grow from these experiences. Ex-lovers and friends come out of the woodwork for this reason. Mercury in Pisces will trigger nostalgia, from musical lyrics to mysterious messages in dreams.

Piscine energy melts barriers in order to bring us into a higher state of compassion, however this can lead to boundary issues. Protecting your own energy is paramount at this time. New relationships and hook-ups begun during a Mercury retrograde, especially in Pisces, will be clouded by Neptune’s fog. While this may not bode well for the long term, engage in what feels good, as this is an important step in development on our journey of intimacy. This month’s energy places an emphasis on exploring our relationships to our own bodies. Invest in your pleasure by taking the time to experiment. March 2nd, Venus moves from stoic taskmaster, Capricorn into free spirited Aquarius. Here, the planet of beauty and love lets her freakiest flags fly, be careful not to let watery Pisces dampen your spirits when Venus prefers her freedom. At the end of the month, the sun enters Aries with a full superman in Libra on the spring equinox, ushering in the green light to move forward in our relationships, after we’ve spent weeks scrutinizing our patterns. Notice what has changed.

Pisces (Feb 19-March 20)

It is your season Pisces, and somehow you’re swimming backward! Try not to let the inundation of emotions (yours and everyone else’s) pull you under, this is actually a gift. The Universe is taking you on a cosmic tour of the past in order to free you from your feelings, whether you felt abandoned, misunderstood, or just wondering where things went wrong. No, you could not have done things differently. No, you cannot change the past. However, you can direct all of your magical healing abilities inward. Place your attention on creativity, writing, poetry, making art, and spending time in nature. These activities will help ground your energy while connecting you to your spirituality. You have a new moon in your sign on the 6th, use it to set intentions around boundaries and self worth. Trust your intuition, let it work for you, instead of everyone else. This month is about focusing on you, especially your sexual energy. Pleasure does not have to come from outside of yourself. When old loves come back for seconds, really consider who is worthy of a seat at your table.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

This month is all about what is unseen, Aries. This Mercury retrograde has you going back over the changes you’ve made since the new year. You’ve been putting in the effort to shift your energy, and now you’re wondering if the outer circumstances are matching your internal feelings yet. If the answer is no, be patient. This pace may not be the sexiest for you, but it is a necessary part of the process. Revisiting the choices you’ve been making allows you some time to slow down and recharge your battery. Your boundless energy needs some refueling as you gear up for all of the action next month. With Mars, your ruling planet, in Taurus all month. Make the most of this time by tapping into your sensual side, think an evening of massages and feeling physical touch in more mindful ways. The full moon at the end of the month, in partnership oriented Libra serves the much needed air to rekindle your fire. Catching up on sleep and giving yourself permission to relax a little will take you far when The Sun and Mercury meet back up in your sign next month. Start stretching now.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

This watery retrograde won’t put too much of a damper on your month, Taurus. With action oriented Mars in your sign all month, things are going at your perfect speed. You may be feeling stirrings within you to try things a little different. Not one to stray from your decadent routine, you sense things could be even better if you get a little uncomfortable. Putting yourself out there in ways that honor who you are will send the right circumstances and people into your life to bring about the necessary changes you crave. The new moon on the 6th will assist you in bringing these situations into the fore. Make sure to balance any discomfort with plenty of rest. Reward yourself by indulging in what brings you the most pleasure, without breaking the bank. Retrogrades are not a good time to make big purchases. Instead, take a tour of what you already have in your personal arsenal. You have the opportunity to view your possessions in a new way. This may be rearranging your bedroom, adding some new candles or pillows, reworking what you have will create a new mood.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

March may feel a little frustrating for you Gemini, your ruler, Mercury, is swimming backward all month in Pisces. Your dual nature isn’t equipped for communicating underwater. You may find yourself overthinking about the past, and missing the comforts of what once was. Remember, what is comfortable impedes our growth. Find ways to self soothe without losing sight of your goals. Water and salt are healing, this can be a trip to the ocean, a luxurious salt bath, even a good cry will be beneficial at this time. Venus in Aquarius will help lighten the mood and help you view things from a more detached place, instead of taking things so personal. Experiment with non-verbal communication. Go dancing, even if it’s just in your apartment. Feel into your body and sweat it out on the dance floor or in front of your mirror. Make a playlist and sing loudly to old favorites and you’ll quickly find the confidence that’s been missing.

Were you being too dramatic? Maybe, but your intuition is always working in your favor to protect you. You will always lead with your big heart, that does not mean you are too extra. Rather than getting caught up in the past, focus on calling in what you really want, instead of making the best of what you’ve been offered. While Mercury swims backward through your fourth house of home, you will be reconnecting with your roots in new ways. Mars in Taurus wants you to put some effort into your daily routine and taking care of yourself. Slowing down is never high on your priority list, and self care typically involves burning your candle at both ends, but how is this serving you? There is a real opportunity to implement some healthier habits that won’t compromise your expansive free spirit. Everyone needs to rest sometimes, even you. Don’t worry, the full moon at the end of the month brings the necessary closure to your social sabbatical.
